A. A. Milne

A. A. Milne (1882-1956) was an established playwright and Punch humorist who came to resent the Pooh books for eclipsing everything else he wrote, and whose son disliked being the boy in them. The stories were published in 1926 and 1928 and drew on a real toy bear. Very little of what circulates online as Pooh wisdom is Milne’s — a great deal of it comes from later screen adaptations or from nowhere at all.
