Ameer Minai

Ameer Minai (1829-1900) was a contemporary of Ghalib from Lucknow who later worked in Rampur and Hyderabad, and compiled a major Urdu dictionary he did not live to finish. He is a standing example of how attribution decays: his best-known couplet, about a veil slipping and a sun rising, is posted daily under Ghalib’s name.
