Patrick Rothfuss

Patrick Rothfuss (born 1973) is an American fantasy novelist from Wisconsin, best known for The Kingkiller Chronicle. The Name of the Wind (2007) and The Wise Man’s Fear (2011) follow Kvothe, a gifted and reckless musician and arcanist, as he tells the true story of his life to a chronicler over three days — a story he knows has already been flattened into legend. The long-promised third volume, The Doors of Stone, has not been published.
His lines are quoted as much for their rhythm as their sense, and most of them are spoken by characters, often by Kvothe looking back on his own mistakes. It is worth remembering who is talking: a narrator who admits he is shaping his own story.
