देवनागरी:
निकलना ख़ुल्द से आदम का सुनते आए हैं लेकिन
बहुत बे-आबरू हो कर तेरे कूचे से हम निकले
English: We have all heard of Adam’s exile from Paradise — but my leaving your street was a far more disgraceful fall.
Meaning: Ghalib compares his lover’s rejection to the Fall of Man — and decides his own humiliation was worse. The audacity of the comparison, half blasphemous and fully human, is why the line is immortal.
अर्थ: ग़ालिब अपनी बेइज़्ज़ती की तुलना आदम के जन्नत से निकाले जाने से करते हैं — और कहते हैं कि उनका अपमान उससे भी बड़ा था। यही बेबाकी ग़ालिब को ग़ालिब बनाती है।
